Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
It's been well documented on here that last summer's signings were a disaster and hopefully the likes of Tore, Calleri, Arbeloa & Nordveidt will never be seen in a West Ham shirt again but is there some hope that Fernandes, Ayew, Masuaku and maybe even Feghouli will use this season as a learning curve and turn out to be good signings for the club in the future?

lato

he hasn't been injured for half the season, he's played 25 league games for us!

Ahem... Fernandes needs to get more game time next season and i think he will flourish

Ayew is a top player no doubt he has been injured for half the season and still scored 6 goals. Fernandes looks very promising needs too. Masuako after a few iffy games started to look good after that.

I thought Arbeloa looked ok early on. Then he was out for a while and came back v Arsenal looking very rusty. Shame because he was a top player.

agree with most of that,

You missed out Tore and Arbeloa who along with Calleri should be shown the door.

Agree Fletcher on loan for the Season if we bring in two decent strikers.

Keep Carroll, plan B next Season off the bench as we need speed up top.

Sakho? if he was a horse he'd be shot by now!

Pleased with the following
MASUAKA-looks good
FERNANDES-looks exciting
AYEW-looking good after early injury

There are others who look like squad players
such as snodgrass, fonte(not done it for us)ferghouli, nordvelt.

CALLERI is far too slow, the one player i like when i see and perhaps needs loaning out for a few months is FLETCHER

Re: Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
All the Euros nonsense over Payet and the Europa league early start didn't help.
Nor did the nonsense trip to America.

Preseason should be a couple of weeks in Austria or similar at a fitness camp followed by a couple of gentle warm ups against locals and other teams in the area doing the same thing (but not silly cunts like the ones that tried to maim Cresswell).
Then back to the UK and a build up of intensity of friendlies.

No America or Asia or NZ or Australia
The fitness work handled by some hard bastards not a 70 yo long jumper.

Lertie, I think Bilic and the squad were suffering from complacency at the beginning of this season. Numerous people, including Bilic, commented on the lack of intensity in training. Hopefully this season has given them a shock and they'll be taking next season more seriously.

Yngwies,

Believe me, I was surprised it was so painless too. Although to even things out, when he tried to transfer me to another department he cut me off instead so usual service was resumed.

And that's bollocks for a start! Nobody gets through to Sky Customer Service. When you do your not in the mood for a chit chat ;-)

Snodgrass has never played well for us and should be playing in the championship at his level

Snodgrass started well for us, but was a bit disappointing in the end. I think he will be a good squad player for us.

Messi never looks very balanced to me, perhaps Snodgrass can use that to his advantage.

Re: Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
He can't even stand up fucking straight. Even in the advert for those awful tshirts in the Liverpool programme he's leaning forward in a sinister, round shouldered way that makes him look like a rapist. I have scoliosis but I've never seen a supposed professional athlete look so chronically unbalanced all the time.

agreed, id rather keep nordviet than have to watch snodgrass, absolute shite

Billic should be sacked just for signing snodgrass alone

Re: Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
I was speaking to a Scottish chap from Sky customer service earlier and we got to speaking about football briefly as my password is West Ham related (no I'm not telling you what it is) and he said he doesn't have an English team but always looks out for our results. Bullshit almost certainly, or he is a weird one.

Anyway, I said we were still waiting for Snodgrass to come good. His response was 'aye he's not too bad really, you know free kicks and that'.

Hardly a ringing endorsement, especially from someone who is used to judging football by the standards of the SPL.

Just wondering why people think we are going to be fitter, better prepared, have less injuries or be more motivated than this season

Unless something tangible changes it will just be the same old story.

Re: Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
TBF Lanzini signed his contract with us in March the previous season, it just couldn't be officially ratified until 1st July.

Fernandes I think will go on to be a top player for us, he's learning all the time, seems to have good composure on the ball, intelligent and a clever player with a few moves up his sleeve.
I also think Feghouli will come good, some players take time to settle, but as the season has gone on he has shown that the player who did so well for Valencia is still in there. Whether he will get the chance or not to show it next season who knows.

Mex Martillo 7:18 Mon May 22
Re: Will this season's signings turn out to be good after all?
Alfs barnet, Lanzini was on loan last season and did actually sign this season, but have to agree, bit of a crap point and when we talk about this seasons signings we do not think of Lanzini

Fernandes has been one of the better signings and shows potential but has he done anything this season that Cullen couldn't have done?
